Residential Network Design & Installation

This 5-day programme is designed to provide the knowledge and skills associated with designing, installing and testing voice, data, TV, video and audio systems within the home environment.

Five key stages are delivered through theoretical study and essential practical exercises to cover all elements from design to installation through to an overview of entire integrated home network systems.

On successful completion of the course, those attending will have gained the knowledge to competently design and install residential networks.

Installation technicians, electrical engineers, homebuilders or developers, contract wiring designers & specifiers, and those interested in receiving in-depth training in the residential voice, data, TV and video distribution design, installation and system integration arena

Prerequisites
No previous experience is necessary

Course objectives
Delegates will have gained the knowledge to competently design, install & test voice, data and TV systems and have gained an in-depth overview of audio and security systems

Course Content (50% Theory, 50% Practical)

Introduction
• The residential market place & range of services that can be employed

Network theory
• The theoretical knowledge required to design a multi-integrated network for Voice, Data & TV cable installation & an overview of the test parameters

Voice & data
• The design & installation practices of voice & data cabling within the home, with reference to the relevant standards plus practical hands-on exercises for the installation of Cat5e/6/7 & CW1308 cable systems

Entertainment systems
• The design & installation of TV/Video/DVD/VCR system

Audio systems
• An overview of the installation techniques required to install an audio system

Security systems
• An overview of security networks for door entry, CCTV & control networks

Residential network integration
• The overall integration of the home network, bringing together all the elements of the network under a single multi-channel cabling system
