Transmission
• Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), 2 to 4 wire conversion, echo, copper cables, fibre optics, radio transmission

Switching
• Digital cross-connects, PABXs, CENTREX, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), computer telephony integration (CTI), automatic call distribution (ACD), customer controlled routing (CCR), common channel signalling (CCS), C7 signalling

Core Network Technologies
• Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Digital Subscriber’s Line (DSL), Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Passive Optical Network (PON), Hybrid Fibre/Coax (HFC) networks, Wireless in the Local Loop (WLL), Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS)
